Bitch'n Bitumen

After spending so much time in the dirt it just seemed like a natural progression for us to eventually get back on the road. This has lead us to our next project 'Bitch'n Bitumen which we started early 2005.

Bitch'n Bitumen is essentially the same type of book as 'Weekend Warriors' with one big exception....... It's for road bikes!
That's right! We are producing a tarmac based motorcycle road touring book that will give the reader information on all the best routes and all the hottest riding roads in Victoria and surrounding states. Soon to be followed by a similar version directed at all the four wheel revheads out there.

Bitch'n Bitumen will contain:

  • 20 suggested day, overnight and multiple day routes throughout Victoria, Tasmania, NSW and QLD with reviews, surface descriptions, mapped out routes to assist riders/drivers including fuel and food stops.
  • Special Feature: Tour of Tasmania in a week.
  • Information on planning your ride/drive and correct riding apparel.
  • Facts on legal requirements, for license and registration in the state of Victoria.
  • A Tech Tips section containing basic information on road bike maintenance and repairs. (Prepared by qualified/experienced motorcycle mechanic).
  • Listing of schools and costs involved in obtaining ‘L' & ‘P'.

We have picked up a few major sponsors such as Yamaha, Shannons Insurance, Michelin and Elf and we are well on the way to completing our most exciting title yet. We are sure Bitch'n Bitumen is going to become every hard core road riders bible and high on the Christmas pressy list for any red blooded motorcycle enthusiast!

Introduction from Bitch'n Bitumen

It's Saturday evening and I get a call from my brother in law, Brett. As usual he's keen to go for a ride on Sunday, as the weather is going to be perfect. I say “Ring around and we'll see who wants to come with us” and I tell him to let them know to be at my place at 9am . Funny thing is, nearly every time we organize a ride the meeting place seems to be my place. I lay in bed that evening tossing and turning as I think about the next day's ride as it steals sleep from me and wonder if I'll ever be able to doze off…….

As soon as I wake up I go straight for the blinds. It's a perfect, picturesque blue sky day outside…... Awesome! I gear up, roll the bike out and make sure it's looking the part as I listen for that familiar sound. There's nothing better than the note of your mates on their bikes as they roll down the road towards your house, exhausts burbling as they pull up your drive, announcing to your neighbors “Here we are!” Everyone is a little blurry eyed and waiting for that first coffee of the day to perk them up, which we manage to get down because as usual, someone is running late. The ride goes well and at the end of the day we arrive back at my place (yes I have a very understanding wife, probably because she rides as well). We grab a cold drink and sit outside, admiring the array of machinery sitting in the drive and talking about the events of the day.

I guess it's the feeling of wind on your face and the open road peeling out towards the horizon before you that makes riding two wheels so much fun. The world just looks like a different place from the seat of a bike. There's nothing quite like it!

Over the years lots of my friends have mentioned to me that although they had been riding for a long time, they had never ridden any of the routes I had taken them on, and were impressed with the quality and variation of the roads. Not to mention the size of the burger that they struggled to finish when we stopped for lunch. I must admit, I didn't think much more about it until I caught up with Jake from Weekend Warriors and had a flick through some of his productions. That got me thinking….. “What happened to the book for road riders?” It was almost sacrilegious! Something had to be done about it, so I sat down with Jake and planned out the book you see before you.

Bitch'n Bitumen is intended for anyone who has ever thrown a leg over a bike and thought “Where do we go today?” From a novice rider who is just starting to experience the total exhilaration and freedom of riding a motorcycle, to an experienced rider, who has ridden for many years and has fallen into the trap of travelling the same roads over and over again. Whether you are the type of rider that likes to get out into the hills for a few knee grinds and blackies, or one of the boys, cruising to the pub on your Harley on a Sunday afternoon. This book is aimed at every type and skill level of rider and contains a multitude of different loops r ang ing from local day rides to overnight trips and week long interstate adventures, sure to wet the appetite of every two wheeled devotee and guaranteed to keep you and your mates busy for years!
