I am 38 years young and I have been riding both on road and off road motorcycles for around 20 years. I spent a lot of my youth on the move never really knowing where we would be living year to year. I have lived in all states except the Northern territory with the majority of my time in Queensland including Surfers Paradise and Broad Beach . Although I was quite young I spent a lot of time at the beach learning how to body surf and I was playing Aussie rules footy. It wasn't until I was about 14 when we moved to Melbourne I realized that this is where we were going to settle.

It wasn't long after we arrived in Melbourne that I was bitten by the bug. Yes the motorcycle bug. A couple of my friends had dirt bikes that I took for a squirt. I was hooked. I asked my dad if I could get a trail bike. His reply was typical of many parents; you're not getting a bike while you live under this roof. How many of us have heard that echoing around the house? I finally got him to agree to let me get one if I paid for it. So I went and got myself a part time job working at Caribbean Gardens and within six months I had saved up enough money to buy a Yamaha yz80 h. I bought it and had delivered to home without him knowing. I rode this everywhere that I possibly could. Several times finding myself on the wrong side of the law. During this period of my life I was also playing footy and had just started getting serious about water skiing. I must admit I learnt many valuable lessons from my early days of riding. I continued off road riding until I was 17 and 9 months when I got my learners and went and bought the first of many road bikes. (My obsession begins). I had a road bike before a car. At 21 I had a GPZ 1100 and GL 1000 Gold Wing in the garage (Picked up the Gold Wing cheap of my dad) I always thought it was amusing how my dad was into bikes but tried to stop me from getting one and in the end I got his. Go figure. After I fixed up the Gold Wing I packed up one day and told my friend's I would see them when I see them. I then rode to Qld to visit a mate and ended up staying there for a few months, then I rode over to Adelaide and watched the F1 GP before returning to Melbourne . That was the start of many great journeys. Over the years I have owned and ridden a vast majority of bikes including Yamahas, Harleys, Kawasaki's, Honda's, and BMW's just to name a few. To be honest I've lost track of how many bikes I've owned.

In the 18 years of road riding I have always had a bike more often than not I'll have two in the garage at any one time. Recently I rebuilt a ZC Fairlane with my wife and it was probably one of the best projects I've done. It actually took over as my pride and joy for a short time but then I had to make the decision keep the car or the bike, the bike won of course.

I believe that all riders should have at least two road bikes, one sport and one tourer. But that's just my humble opinion.

I find that I will go to any length to be involved with motorcycling and motorcycles. Over the years I have worked as a part time motorcycle instructor at several schools, run a part time business performing Harley Davidson rides, worked in Bike mart (motorcycle accessories) as a part time sales assistant. I have travelled extensively throughout Victoria and other states. I have found that my own personal experiences has given me a broad knowledge of road riding areas that would be of interest and possible benefit to other bike riders and car enthusiasts. So what better excuse do I need to go and have some fun? As I said earlier I will go to any length to be involved with motorcycles and motorcycling.
