Due to constantly changing conditions and the inevitable factor of human error we have an amendments page where we can right the wrongs and keep our information as up to date as possible
The Kinglake Pine forrest is now closed and gated at the main entrances. Being privatly leased land means get caught and cop some fair fines!
In the motorcycle clubs listing at the back the "Historic MRAV" is no longer
at that address or number.
On the Anglesea "Jump Park" page, in the "How To Get There" section where it says "turn left for 300m and then turn right onto the dirt track" it should read "turn left for 800m then right into dirt track".
Unfortunately the above mentioned "Anglesea Jump park" is going to be closed for mining operations as of September/October 2003. We still have many copies of Weekend Warriors that will be sold before we can correct this information in print. We apologize for any inconvenience.
On the Dom Saddle page there is a misprint: the distance from Melbourne should read 82km not ??.
The directions to COBAW are now wrong as the changes to the Calder Freeway have been completed.
Instead of turning right onto Three Chains Rd just after the freeway changes into single lanes you must do the following:
Follow the Calder Freeway just past Macedon and take the Woodend - Lancefield - Romsey Rd exit. Turn right at the end of the exit ramp and head over the freeway. Turn immediately left onto Boundary Rd and follow it for 4.9 km (last bit is dirt) and turn right onto Three Chains Rd (also known as Lancefield - Kyneton Rd) follow this for 2.6 kms and turn left onto Egan Lane then refer back to the book for the final directions.
In the "How to get there" section on the Mt Disappointment North page the directions should read: Follow Whittlesea Yea Rd
16kms (not 11kms) past Kinglake West.
Melways released 2003 & onwards (maybe 2002 as well, not sure) have the touring section starting on page 600 not page 500 as with earlier versions. This means that any reference made in WW1 to a Melways page eg: (Mel Ref pg510 etc) would be the same as (Mel Ref pg610 etc) in the later version.
Seasonal road closures will be in force this winter in the Pauls Lane area between June and October. The tracks to be closed are Ridge Tk, JD Tk, Loop Tk and the southern section of Pauls Range Rd to where it meets Link Tk. Pauls Lane, Link Tk and the northern section of Pauls Range Rd will not be closed so access to the south towards the
and access to the north towards Toolangi (including the whole of the northern section of Pauls Range) will remain open.
There have been some recent works done in Mt.Disappointment. The Disa.Sunday Creek water catchment has been completely locked up - all gates have been re-hung and padlocked, so access to this area is prohibited. (Always has been, but some people like to push their luck.) Road closures have also been reinstated leading into the catchment area (riders, please observe signs). The pipeline that runs parallel to Main Mountain Rd is to be fenced and revegetated - no access. There are also some new signs near residents referring to "Residential Safety Areas". These signs were drafted by residents as they felt their needs were being ignored by riders (see below). These signs are not hard to follow and really are a good idea to help communicate the needs of local residents which in turn help reduce confrontation and the possibility of our favorite spots being closed down.
PLEASE NOTE: The Track/Club listing at the end of WW1 is now over 4 years old and is no longer valid as many of the phone numbers have changed.
